This Easy publication (foundation study curriculum (RCM Level 1–2)) serves as an instructive study in keyboard voicing. Pianists must address balancing quiet accompaniment figures beneath a clearly audible melodic statement. Passages dominated by flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks benefit from conscious dynamic shading. Regarding pedal usage, coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Rehearsal Step: count subdivisions out loud during practice to stabilize tempo and prevent rushing.

The piece operates in A Major, governed by a signature with three sharps (F♯, C♯, G♯). This tonal center positions A as the primary acoustic anchor, while F-sharp Minor and the dominant E Major supply contrasting tonal colors. Harmonically, the progression A → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 concludes with a questioning dominant pivot that commands forward continuation. From a tactile perspective, navigating this key delivers a brilliant upper tessitura demanding attentive thumb passage beneath fingers two and three during arpeggios.

When programming this selection, music educators frequently schedule Xerxes for community music performances and versatile studio accompaniment. Adapting the original A Major setting is straightforward: lower tessituras find comfort in G Major, whereas soprano instruments or solo flutes achieve singing resonance in B Major. From an attribution perspective: Curated as an academic study resource governed by `unknown`, intended for individual repertoire development.
