Something Just Like This Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

Attributed to ChainsmokersColdplay, Something Just Like This forms an integral entry in the popular rock sheet music repertoire. Laid out across 3 pages containing 59 measures, this score draws authenticity from verified performance editions and modern engravings. Work tracking associates this edition with ISWC identifier `T-554.756.2B-1` and registry `mbid-5547562b-pianistforum`.

Set within the harmonic domain of E Minor (one sharp (F♯, with D♯ harmonic inflection)), the score secures tonal focus on E. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into G Major and dominant reinforcement via B Major. Harmonically, the progression Em → Dm → G → C → F → E7 weaves cohesive chordal shifts (F, E7) supporting melodic variety before resolving. In terms of hand topography, E Minor yields a brooding color space marked by tight half-step attraction between the tonic and its raised leading tone.

Metric propulsion relies on 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), giving the piece a well-proportioned metric pulse alternating primary and secondary stresses across the measure. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 85 BPM (*Moderato grazioso*), the overall character feels stable with buoyant, relaxed momentum. Pianists should ensure that they avoid pounding downbeats mechanically; keep the line buoyant through intermediate pulses.

Graded at the Intermediate level (mid-tier conservatory syllabus (ABRSM Grade 5 standard)), the score fosters disciplined keyboard ergonomics. The primary technical hurdle involves projecting the cantabile soprano melody while suppressing inner accompaniment voices. When negotiating cinematic rolling bass sweeps and sustained chord foundations, ensure the singing melody stays dynamically elevated over the accompaniment. Acoustically, execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Practice Tip: practice left-hand harmonic leaps with closed eyes to develop spatial keyboard instinct.

Performance Applications: In performance programming, Something Just Like This is well matched for community music performances and versatile studio accompaniment.

Transposition Guide: For performers transposing away from E Minor, optimal vocal targets include D Minor for medium-low voices and F-sharp Minor for upper registers. B♭ transposing instruments sound in concert pitch when reading the score in F-sharp Minor.
