Ragtime Showers Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

The rhythmic foundation is anchored in 3/4 (simple triple meter), yielding a graceful waltz-like momentum that unfolds across three distinct quarter-note measures. Paced at ♩ = 128 BPM (Molto allegro), the tempo projects a exuberant with bold metric drive musical mood. To refine rhythmic clarity, let beats two and three float effortlessly above the grounded bass root.

The score Ragtime Showers, composed by KATHRYN ATHOL MORTON (1902), reflects the stylistic idioms of the classic American syncopated keyboard tradition. This edition contains 57 measures formatted across 3 pages, corroborated through archival American ragtime anthologies. Worldwide rights catalogs anchor this title under ISWC code `T-21B.7CC.E7-1`.

Benchmarked against Intermediate syllabus standards (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), the work develops refined tonal control. Key hurdles center on managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Supporting figures featuring ragtime octave jumps and rhythmic off-beat comping need relaxed wrist cushioning. Pedal coordination: keep pedaling light and detached to maintain punchy rhythmic articulations. Rehearsal Step: drill awkward chord shifts at 60% tempo, ensuring fingers assume target hand shapes before descending.

Set within the harmonic domain of C Major (zero sharps and zero flats), the score secures tonal focus on C. Expressive depth is enhanced through secondary pivots into A Minor and dominant reinforcement via G Major. Harmonically, the progression C → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 suspends tension over an active dominant chord awaiting tonal release. In terms of hand topography, C Major yields a white-key keyboard terrain where maintaining firm knuckle support prevents flat-finger fatigue.

Performance Applications: In performance programming, Ragtime Showers is well matched for cocktail lounge sets, rhythm section workshops, and jazz club showcases.

Transposition Guide: To accommodate diverse vocal registers, accompanists can transpose the C Major score: baritones rest easily in B-flat Major, while lyric tenors and high soloists project effortlessly in D Major.
