Q2

Designed for Easy level pianists (foundation study curriculum (RCM Level 1–2)), this piece demands clean articulation and hand balance. The chief hurdle entails executing clean thumb crossings beneath fingers two and three during scalar shifts. Balancing flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks requires distinct volume separation between parts. Furthermore, execute full pedal clears at dynamic changes to highlight intimate moments. Practice Recommendation: count subdivisions out loud during practice to stabilize tempo and prevent rushing.

Metric propulsion relies on 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), giving the piece a well-proportioned metric pulse alternating primary and secondary stresses across the measure. Set to a metronome speed of ♩ = 126 BPM (*Molto allegro*), the overall character feels exuberant with bold metric drive. Pianists should ensure that they listen for the overarching four-bar hypermeter to keep phrases singing rather than measure-bound.

Framed in G Major, the score establishes G through a key signature featuring a single sharp (F♯). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (E Minor) alongside strong cadential support from D Major. Harmonically, the progression G → Am → F → Dm → G7 concludes with a questioning dominant pivot that commands forward continuation. Under the fingers, G Major features a resonant acoustic register with F♯ serving as a natural tactile guidepost for the right hand.

Originating within the modern pop keyboard selections, Q2 by Kerrharine exemplifies structural economy and melodic clarity. Spanning 2 pages and 37 measures, its source material derives from accurate modern sheet transcriptions. Catalog registries document the score under identifier `mbid-f5a82d59-pianistforum` with ISWC `T-F5A.82D.59-1`.
