A Dance of Dragons Piano Solo Arrangement with Chords, Metronome & BPM

Framed in D Major, the score establishes D through a key signature featuring two sharps (F♯, C♯). Harmonic variety is enriched through dialogue with the relative minor/major (B Minor) alongside strong cadential support from A Major. Harmonically, the progression D → G → Am → F → Dm → G7 pauses expressively on an open half-cadence, leaving harmonic expectation unresolved. Pianistically, the key produces an ergonomic setting that supports relaxed hand curvature across its two raised accidental steps.

Created by Ramin Djawadi, the composition A Dance of Dragons demonstrates notable craftsmanship within the classic American syncopated keyboard tradition. Encompassing 63 measures over 3 engraved pages, the work is collated from vintage Tin Pan Alley prints. Authority databases register this work as `mbid-622f6dde-pianistforum` and ISWC `T-622.F6D.DE-1`.

Designed for Intermediate level pianists (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this piece demands clean articulation and hand balance. The chief hurdle entails managing two-part hand coordination and synchronizing pedal changes with harmonic shifts. Balancing ragtime octave jumps and rhythmic off-beat comping requires distinct volume separation between parts. Furthermore, keep pedaling light and detached to maintain punchy rhythmic articulations. Practice Tip: play the melody forte while ghost-tapping the accompaniment keys silently beneath the surface.

Cast in 4/4 (simple quadruple meter), the score delivers a steady common-time pulse providing natural rhythmic symmetry across four quarter-note subdivisions. At ♩ = 134 BPM (*Allegro con brio*), the musical progression remains brisk with sparkling rhythmic excitement. Pedagogical directive: subdivide internally with relaxed forearm weight to prevent metric stiffness across bar lines.
