Designed for Intermediate level pianists (intermediate study curriculum (RCM Level 5–6)), this piece demands clean articulation and hand balance. The chief hurdle entails achieving fluid finger legato without relying on the damper pedal to mask uneven key releases. Balancing flowing keyboard arpeggios that support emotional melodic peaks requires distinct volume separation between parts. Furthermore, coordinate pedaling with chord changes to maintain acoustic warmth. Preparatory Exercise: record your practice with emphasis on listening for crisp pedal releases on each harmonic pivot. Score pointer: Balance the power-ballad melody above the accompanying broken chords so the vocal line projects clearly. Use gradual dynamic layering through the climactic chor.

Tonal grounding is defined by D Major, marked in the score by two sharps (F♯, C♯). The music alternates stability on D with expressive harmonic excursions toward B Minor and its parallel relation, D Minor. Harmonically, the musical line relies on fundamental triad relationships (G Major and A Major) around the tonic root. Physically, playing in this key offers a balanced keyboard profile naturally accommodating the central three fingers on the raised black key steps.

Curatorial Repertoire Role: The work serves as a reliable selection for community music performances and versatile studio accompaniment.

Tessitura & Key Transposition: Adapting the original D Major setting is straightforward: lower tessituras find comfort in C Major, whereas soprano instruments or solo flutes achieve singing resonance in E Major.
